"Where there's a will, there's a way": Learning to drive taught me a lot...

I've realised I have a pattern when it comes to getting what i want...

When I look at the goals I’ve set in my life...the things I've set out to achieve, I’ve always approached them that little bit differently 🤔

Like when I set the goal to learn how to drive...🚘

I was in my early 20s living in Stirling, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and I decided it was time that I had put this goal off long enough. So I signed up for lessons and every week after work I’d have one with my instructor.

This went on for four, maybe six, weeks and I noticed I wasn’t really progressing, the lessons were becoming tedious, I was losing interest, I couldn’t see much progress and the goal of being able to actually drive seemed a loooong way off. I was really over this weekly process and ended up dreading every lesson which was now up to twice a week.

It was time to do things that l little bit differently!!

So I asked my instructor “for the average person how many lessons does it take for them to pass their test?” (thinking I was an a average person so this was a good question to set expectations). He said it depends but on average 23-26 lessons.

😳 🤯I had that many more lessons and weeks to go!!

I went home completely deflated...ready to quit (public transport wasn't so bad), when I had an idea 💡

I wanted to be able to drive that was my goal but I didn’t want to do lessons week in week out for what felt like an eternity, I wanted a simpler, faster way than that!

So the time to do things differently had come! I booked my theory test for later that week and passed with ease. I then booked my practical driving test for the following month. Yep I booked that sucker in.

Then called my instructor to ask if I could book 25 lessons with him the week prior to my test date. (dun, dun, dun...)

I could feel his uncertainty through the phone 😅

He was like “what? You want to book 25 lessons in a week?

I said yep...I’d like to book you for five hours a day, the five days before this date, can you make that work? I reminded him that he said the average person needs 25 lessons so that's the number I wanted to book the week before my test.

He was apprehensive and shared how in all his years as an instructor that no one had ever done that. That I would surely fail.

I acknowledged his concerns and said i still wanted to book them in and if i failed i failed. And he agreed. 🙌

I took the week prior to my test date off work, did five hours of driving a day 😅 and at the end of it sat my test.

🎉 I passed with flying colours. 🎉

My instructor couldn’t believe it. He said he would never have thought of doing that - I’d opened his eyes and he would never forget me or our intense week of driving ever!!

For me that was 5 intense days and a major goal ticked off ✅

You see there is always more than one way to reach your goals.

Sometimes you just have to look at things differently or see things from another perspective.

I have stories like this all through my life from how I got into uni after failing my exams or was able to emigrate to Australia on a full sponsorship visa. How I bounced back from bankruptcy fast. I can see alternative ways to do things, I can see what others sometimes cant. And I always go all in to make them happen.

At the end of 2020 I set the goal to create and launch an online course to help other coaches and service experts reach more people, get clients and generate a living doing what they love with ease. I wanted to reach more people, to help end the famine and feast cycle so many business owners find themselves running and share the repeatable foundations that have allowed me to live a life I love.

4 weeks ago I put the wheels in motion and today I opened the official Facebook group and granted registrants of the free beta round access.
